Mr. & Mrs. Olivas

Updated: Sep 17, 2019

"If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day,

so I never have to live without you."

From the engagement shoot to the wedding day, meeting Makaila and Marco has been an awesome experience! From the beginning, the urban vibe was what they wanted. The venue for the events of the day was 28 Event Space, down in the heart of Kansas City. The bridal and groom suites are amazing with lots of light and amenities making their preparation time so smooth and easy.

Makaila had an awesome team in her corner, from the bridesmaids to their hair and makeup teams. She made an incredibly beautiful bride and her bride tribe were the perfect compliment to her. Just such a beautiful group of ladies! The garter that she wore for the wedding was a special gift, that included a little piece of lace from her grandmother's wedding dress. A very special "something old" for sure!

Let's talk just a moment about the groom. One thing we noticed was that he has a naturally happy spirit. We captured so many laughing moments that we just can't post them all! You could tell his crew were good friends and family and they had so much fun standing by his side making him laugh all day!

Now Marco and Makaila chose not to see one another before the ceremony. But that didn't stop us from doing a sweet first look with her brother and then her dad. Such a sweet moment for both and everyone was tearing up just seeing the love these two had for their girl.

We got finished with the before photos in time so we could capture a few more pretties of this bride and her girls.

Time for the ceremony! Everything went perfectly. Marco's parents placed the lasso on the couple. Symbolizing everlasting love and unity, an enduring Mexican wedding ritual involves a wedding lasso. It was nice to see this tradition used in their ceremony.

While the venue flipped the room for the ceremony, the bridal party stole away to get some pretty photos. The Kauffmann Center for the Performing Arts provided such a beautiful backdrop to these picture. The sun was close to setting so we got a sweet golden hue. These two are so beautiful together!!

Time to party!! When we came back from our little photo trip, the room was flipped, the golden curtains pulled to reveal the amazing murals on the walls! Simply stunning!! From the dances to the tosses, this group came to party! There was so much smiling and laughter all night.

The last thing before a few group photos was a sparkler send-off. These are always fun, and was special with just family and bridal party.

When you get to a picture, there will be arrows to scroll to the right. Keep going right until they stop changing and move to the next paragraph.

Marco and Makaila, thanks so much for letting us be part of the beginning of your forever together! We hope to be part of future milestone moments!!
